What type of guarantee does American Home Concepts offer?

Our replacement windows, vinyl siding and insulated-doors are all manufacturer lifetime guaranteed. Other products are guaranteed by their manufacturer. Cabinetry warranties vary by manufacturer along with all bathroom and plumbing fixtures.

How much do windows typically cost?

The cost of our windows is usually determined by these factors

  1. The size of the project
  2. The size of windows chosen
  3. Style preferences
  4. Optional choices

Who will complete the project?

American Home Concepts professional team completes all work in a timely manner.

Are you certified to do the job?

We are licensed and insured to operate in the state of Pennsylvania, and all technicians stay up to date on techniques and applicable regulations (state and federal).

My home is partly brick and partly wood siding. Can I apply vinyl siding?

Yes. This building material is extremely adaptable and can be applied to almost any external building material, including brick, cinder block, natural logs, and even field stone.

Do I have to paint my siding on occasion?

No, our siding does not have to be painted. Simply wash the exterior with soap and water about every six months to keep the siding looking great.

Why are my windows drafty?

Drafty windows have several causes, such as age, condition, improper installation, and similar factors. Proper caulking and flashing should prevent perimeter air leakage. You can determine whether the air is coming in at the joint between the frame and the house or the joint between the sash and the frame. Hold a lighted candle or lighter in front of each joint when the wind is blowing and slowly move it along the joint. If the flame flickers strongly or goes out, the joint is probably leaking.

Will new windows stop drafts?

If the windows were not installed correctly, the drafts can normally be stopped without being forced to remove or replace the window, but age, condition, and other factors will require replacement in most cases.

On the other hand, if the installed window twists the window frame, causing the weatherstripping to be unable to seal the sash to the frame, window removal may be unavoidable.

When do you recommend replacing doors or windows?

We suggest replacing windows and/or doors when they are not energy efficient, begin rotting, leak condensation, cause furniture nearby to fade (including curtains), when painting and/or staining become bothersome, or when drafts leak through the door or window.

What should AAMA and NFRC certified mean to homeowners?

The AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) sets the standards for product certification and educational requirements for the window industry, so products like ours that have passed these standards are more reliable when installed properly and taken care of.

The NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council) is a non-profit business founded by the Department of Energy in conjunction with the window, door, and skylight industry. It offers a standard rating tool for window, door, and skylight products, as they relate to energy efficiency of each.

What can I use to clean stains from around doors and windows?

We recommend the following products. Each is in no particular order, and any cleanser could work, depending on the user and item to be cleansed. Refer to the manufacturer's label on each product for more information.

Bubble Gum: Solution of vinegar and water. Should be mixed in a 70% vinegar to 30% water ratio.

What does the phrase "Energy Star" mean?

Energy star is a self-governing program that establishes a customary collection of guidelines that recognize the energy efficiency of a variety of products. These guidelines are used in combination with a range of building materials and products, such as windows, doors, and appliances. Energy star guidelines have doubled the effectiveness of windows that they support in the last decade.
